The Wales Festival of Innovation runs from 19th - 30th June and will showcase the very best of Wales; from cutting edge technologies to people and businesses leading the way..

To highlight TechHub's and our region's contribution to innovation in Wales and the vital role it plays in economic growth, we've teamed up with SSDC, AWS South Wales User Group, the DVLA, Disberse and Vizolution to bring you an evening of talks, presentations and discussions. There may even be a cheeky giveaway as well!

Full line-up below.... Matt Lewis: Chief Architect at DVLA and founder of the AWS South Wales user group Session Title: Voice Computing and Alexa Matt has over 17 years experience in the IT industry, working on major delivery and transformation projects in various countries and industries including financial services, telco, automotive and public sector. He is passionate about the use of technology and growing skills in the region. Voice represents the next major disruption in computing. According to USA Today, it is expected that over 35 million people in the US will use a voice-enabled device such as an Amazon Echo or Google Home at least monthly this year. Amazon released its voice service to the UK and Germany at the backend of 2016, and already it is estimated that 40% of UK households will have an Amazon Echo by early next year. Alexa is the market leader, and is already being integrated into the next generation of devices from lamps and speakers through to refrigerators and cars from manufacturers such as Ford and BMW. Learning to build Alexa skills is a fantastic way to learn about serverless architecture, and can be the gateway to a cloud engineering role.
